Teton Valley House

The Teton Valley House was designed for a capable and adventurous couple who wanted to build their own home. Situated in the Teton river valley just outside of Driggs, Idaho, its cascading pitched roofs pick up on the horizon lines of the surrounding mountains. The orientations of the pitched roofs also manage the substantial winter snow pack by sloping away from entries and occupied yard space. The orientation of the home was carefully considered to manage light throughout the day. The kitchen and master bedroom are located on the east side of the home where they view sunrises and capture morning light. The living room and wrap around deck on the southwest corner have great light throughout the day and are ideal for sunset viewing. The details and form were kept simple to make the construction process easier for the first time builders.
